It’s great you’re so aware and motivated about recycling Susan and it’s a real shame so many people have that attitude. I’ve come across the same thing in Australia, I think because it was once reported in the media that recyclable materials were being taken to landfill (even though this was just a one off or rare occurrence — although with the China issue last year(?) it has become more common unfortunately).

Still I believe that most recyclable items do get recycled, if they’re sorted correctly and don’t contain food residue. Don’t give up — we need people with positive attitudes especially at times like this. Maybe your City’s government has some information to show that it actually does get recycled?
